Humble Bundle is wrapping up the first week of its annual winter sale today. There are a ton of tempting offers to lure your wallet from your pockets, but there's no need to feel guilty or trepidatious of indulging a bit. Ten percent of the sale's proceeds are going to charity and they've already raised over $3.8 million for Child's Play and numerous other charities. If there is something you've procrastinated getting or if you're looking for something new to play, peruse the ever expanding catalog of games on the Humble store.

In their early days, Humble Bundles were my principle source for new and interesting indie games but as they've expanded, they are quickly eclipsing Steam as my primary source for new games. Most of the motivation comes from the charity angle. I feel better about the purchases I make when I know how much is going to the developers/merchart/charity, and I know my sentiments aren't exclusive. It has been a huge draw for Humble Bundle.

The Winter sale going on right now has new deals every day. Today's notable deals include Skyrim: Legendary Edition for 75% off, tactical stealth game Invisible, Inc for 50% off and 40% off the increasingly popular ARK: Survival Evolved. Most of the deals last for only 24 hours so it's worth checking back every day to see what new deals pop up.

The one gripe I have about buying from the Humble Store is that while you can select your own charity from a broad list, a number of our region's local charities aren't on that list. If possible, I'd like my contribution to go to a charity that will directly affect our local community. In the absence of that, I usually designate Child's Play or Worldbuilders because of my familiarity with the work they do.

The Humble Winter Sale runs through Thursday, January 28th.
